Child CPR
Overview
- Recall the Adult CPR and AED objectives, focusing on the first three links in the AHA Chain of Survival.
- Recall that the primary difference between Adult and Child CPR is that if the victim is less than 8 years old and has a smaller body, then rather than using two hands with interlocked fingers, you use the palm of one hand and steady yourself with the other hand.
- Recall that a standard AED can be used on children over the age of one year. For infants (less than1 year of age) a manual defibrillator is preferred.
